Hello all readers,

I play for a bit on your server.
Nice to see much interaction and fun

I got one thing bothering me, even so to register and make a topic
The afk rule.(here https://wiki.eg-team.de/index.php?title=W:ET_Admin_Guide#AFK_or_Inactive_players)

I notice often that afk players make or break the map.
Every now and then I loose a map with 2 or more players in the team afk (also members).
To me it feels like the afk rule is to wait until the server puts them in spec.

120 sec. can make a lot of difference when the fight is tight.
Did you guys ever considered putting people spec when afk?
(sure you did)
And what are the arguments not to get active in putting players spec?

To me it is a bit of a frustration players not participating and therefor to loose the map.

Hey Lammert,

yes you are right. Normally you are automatically moved to Spec after 120 seconds of inactivity. 

Unfortunately, this does not always work (e.g. after changing the map). If a member notices that someone has been inactive for a long time, they should move the player to Spec. It's not always immediately apparent.

Maybe we will reduce the time to 100 seconds.

Addendum by Lammert:

 

Seems something didn't work.
3 players afk for > 3 mins.
In the 4th minute a member putted 2 of them spec.
The other one started playing

Yeah 120 seconds is kinda high.. 60 or even 40 is enough to tell if that person is not gna play.

The problem is that teammates start to shove or kill that person. Then the counter restarts.

So if someone is afk simply say it in chat or pm to an member or highlevel player.
We all are players, and so are admin,  so if we play we dont see members of the other team that are AFK.
just tell us in chat we will wil put team spec.

I had the experience that a member acted and asked who to put spec.
Nice to see.
